All these gas engine troubles with ignition sure make me glad we only have one gas engine tractor the rest are all diesels. We've had very few problems with them over the last 75 years also.

For what it costs to go electronic ignition one can buy 10 or more sets of points. I have tractor that have the same set of point in them as they did 10 years ago and keep running just fine.

I put one in my SMTA bout 10 years ago. I have been very happy with it. Reading on the forum how many people get bad condensors out of the box I am glad I did it. Also you don't have to touch it after it is installed. I kept the old parts to install if something happened to it but so far haven't needed to. I also have one on a JD 430 that wanted to burn points and problem solved. Seems like the last timme I bought points and condensor they were hitting the $20+ mark. Only thing to watch is to get 2 screws back in the right place or you may break something
