560 Injector Pump Removal Question....

I'm rather new to these fancy diesel engines & figured I should probably ask about what's going on before I screw something up. I'm getting ready to
pull the pump & the book says to line up the lines in the timing window on the pump by getting the pointer to the 3? mark on the main pulley & I was
sure to turn the fan clock-wise as would be viewed from the front of the tractor. I got the pulley around to the "T" & the line in the timing window
was just a little "north" of where it should be, but close. Moved the pulley to 1? & the lines lined up perfect. Turned the fan & got the pointer on
the 3? mark. The line is now a little "south" of where it should be. Not far, maybe the thickness of the line itself. Is this ok or should I make
another 2 revolutions of the main pulley & try it again? Do the lines need to be dead nuts on? The book seems to show them to be right on the money.

Next thing of concern is, can I blow the pump out? I'm sending it out for servicing & would rather not make too much of a mess. It's a Roosa pump,
if that makes a difference. Would also like to know if those are standard pipe fittings where the lines attach? I'd like to cap them off with pipe
plugs.

Thanks,
Mike

Pump is rotated as needed to align the marks, where it is now is close enough for removal. The injector line outlet ports are 3/8 NF bolt thread, not pipe. I tell customers to drain the pump completely after it's off, wrap in an old towel or tee shirt, then plastic bag. Use plenty of box packing to protect it during shipping.

One thing Dieseltech didn?t tell you. After you get it all boxed up, send it to him. You will be very glad you did.
