I have a friend asking me to buy a Farmall C or Super C. He sent me a picture of it and it doesn?t have the touch control system. I?ve tried to learn more about it but can find no reference to a C being built without the hydraulic system. Any thoughts on when or why it was manufactured like that and what it does to the value of the tractor?

Nothing saying it was built without it. At any time in the last 70-odd years, the hydraulic system could have been removed because it wasn't working, to lighten the tractor for pulling, or any other reason.

Of course it could have come that way from the factory. Not every farmer had need of hydraulics. Maybe they just wanted something to pull a cart.

Some will tell you that it does nothing to the value. Others will say that it hurts the value of the tractor tremendously as without hydraulics it cannot be used with implements.

A running driving Super C with hydraulics and average tires isn't worth more than around $1500 average, so there's not too many places you can go from there as far as value.

Hydraulics on any of those old tractors was considered an accessory and the tractor could be purchased with out any accessory or just certain ones. Accessories cost money and a farmer with tight budget could easily opted out of getting some or all of them offered. How it affects the cost depends on the person buying it. If you have to find a unit and add it on then the tractor is worth less.

Are you sure that it's not a Farmall B model? If it is a Farmall C or Super C it will have 36 inch rear wheels. Is there a flat spot under the gas tank and on top of the bell housing where the touch control unit would set?
