560 diesel head gasket difference?

I will need to buy a head gasket. (I bought with engine in peices so don't have old one) I am curious if they are all same or different because mine has the style sleeves with the real small flange. Also I had an idea to replace the head bolts with studs with fine threaded nuts like a 450?

Thanks, do you know where the engine serial number is? Is it a stamped or cast number? I found raised cast 607488 C1. The tractor serial plate is gone.

I think my own idea about fine threaded studs might be bad because if the head is torqued down more than it is suppose to be there could be a potential problem of sleeves cracking under flange/fire dam

The only difference would be the supplier. Don?t need to be changing the head bolts either. I have rebuilt lots of those engines and never had a bolt problem yet. Those engines are picky for the head situation. Things need to be spotless. Head flat. Bolts clean. And oiled. Proper torque spec. And sequence. And head retorque after an hr or two of running at operating temperature. Use case ih gaskets. Think they are felpro. There is victor gaskets also. I have used the brand name ones with no problems. No sense getting a cheap gasket.

Looks like this 560D motor has no stamp. I found stamp on 806 gas block .

I am not sure about this but if you are torquing the same amount on a fine threaded studs vs. course bolt there may be alot more pressure drawing down with fine threaded studs.

Where would I get case ih head gasket? The last couple places I ordered thru the brand was reliance. Not sure about quality since for my 450 D the original gasket is metal on both sides and reliance just has metal rings on gaskets and im having problems. (Have head off again to get resurfaced)

Block casting number is what you posted and probably a replacement block. May want to check it out but thinking that block number was used in 656 and 706 with sleeves fitting tighter.

Also check the RIGHT side upper front and rear block ends, info might be stamped there too. All thin top flange sleeves are heavy press fit sleeves used in late 236/282 blocks, head gasket seals on block same as the no sleeve D301 block. Early 236/282 used wide flange sleeves, gasket sealed on the flange on those engines.

I might add to this here , Try and get and OEM VICTOR gskt . Before you start stuffen in head bolts lets go over checking sleeve stand out with a depth Mic. and making sure they fall under spec. Next get a 1/2 inch bottoming tap and run the tap down each head bolt hole and clean up the bottom then wash out with brake kleen and blow dry , run a die over each head bolt and look closely at the top threads for any sign of stretching , look over the shaft of the bolt for pitting due to rust and disguard any that show signs of stretch or pitting . LIGHTLY lube the threads of the bolts , myself i use engine assembly lube (white grease sparingly as you do not want to hyd crack the block . Then ya do a three step pull down and once down to torque then go back over everyone one more time before start up and ya do a retorque after engine temp is at normal operating temp on a working gauge, . When setting the valves look clowsely at the tips of the rocker arms for ware, yes there is ware unless you have the rocker arms dressed , you adjust the valves carefully in the woren area as not to cause a bridging affect on the valve set and when ya thing your done go back over it and check again as guess what your not as you will find that OH i have several that are not wright here .

Where do I get OEM Victor gasket? (I never heard of Victor) Also another guy recommended Case IH gasket. I also may end up needing another new head gasket for a 450 D. Maybe a OEM Victor would be the answer for that?

I ask case IH for OEM Victor head gasket? Or are you talking about case IH gasket or is they the same thing?

Victor made Gskt. for I H . So the unless they don't anymore a OEM should be a Victor . Now i can get the OEM from one of my jobber supply houses that i get engine parts from BUT they have to order them in special , they handle the Fel PRO and Victor lines but to get the SAME as factory it has to be ordered in . the one guy Paul that works there and i had this discussion many years back as he had in stock what the book called for and when he brought it out it was NOT the same as i had taken the old gskt with me and even though the book said it would work it was not like the org. So we got digging deeper and he came up with another part number and ordered it in and it was just like the one i took out . At the time i was fighting a leaking head gskt on a 706 gas , i had just did a valve job had the head milled down around .009 to get it flat checked the block and was only .0015 off on it so that is good enough to make a head gskt seal , the new head gskt that now came in the head set was a Fle pro perma torque and on the plug side of the head i could not get it to seal . even tried a new gskt and had the same problem . One tires fast of a job when your fighting a problem on your dime and you have a customer wanting his tonka toy back. We were on day four on this job . Got the correct head gskt and not a WILL FIT put the head back on pulled it down and fired up the tractor and OH no more leaks WOW use the wright part and the job goes like it should . The reason i use a Jobber for my engine parts are i get the same parts as what you buy from Case I H with out the expensive Case I H part number stamped in the part all casting numbers are the same at a 50 to 75% less so if it cost me less then it cost you less . Down side to this to deal with a Jobber you havve to be and engine builder and have a boreing bar , a head surfacer and valve grinding capable along with a way of degreasing / hot tank . it was all old stuff but did work just a pain to set up . Did not use it much when i had a close friend thqat had the latest and greatest NEW stuff that was so much faster and way easier to set up . His power wash hot tank could clean a head in fifteen min where opur old home made one would take no less the 24 hours of soaking then hot water pressure washing , his head surfacer took five min to set up , his boring bar was fully automated and head had a line bore to do line boring . So i could drive the 18 miles to his place and get the job done and drive back while i was still setting up a job.
