Would anyone have the NAPA oil filter numbers for 1939 Farmall M early style and for 1937 F-20 oil filters? Thank You for all your help...... Binderman

NAPA can do it for you. You don't need to do their job for them. Read the number off the old filter(if not a NAPA number, they can cross it). Or,take the old filters in as a sample. BTW,the oil filter for my F20 was a 1125,which is the same as my two Ms,SuperM,400.Your mileage may vary.I cant tell you the number of the older fat M filter, but NAPA can.C,H (others) use 1172.

Wix has a good look up option on their website, and I believe Napa's number is similar, but it's possible your tractor could have different filters. Wix's website also has dimensions of the filters, so if you have an old one you should be able to figure out what you need.

I may of given you some misleading information, I went to Wix's and Napa's website product search, which look exactly the same, and couldn't find a filter number for our Farmall C! Disappointing!

The early Ms used a larger oil filter than the later Ms, Super Ms, 400s, etc. My 1940 M uses the same oil filter as the W9.

My 1945 M uses the same 'skinny' filter as the SM/400. My friends 47 M that sits here frequently has the 'fat' filter. So you really for sure can't say early or late. You have to actually look at the filter. A lot can get changed since 1945(or earlier). I don't know when IH changed the filter from fat to skinny.Or if there is an actual 'cuttoff' date or Sn break.
