need help again. I'm trying to get the fender light working on my 460. Is there an IH switch that I can use to 1, to turn on just the tractor mounted head lights 2, the inside pair of fender light along with tractor head lights, and 3 outside pair of fender lights along with the inside fender lights and head lights.
wanting to wire rear work light into head lights with a spst toggle so I can turn it on/off as needed when the tractor head lights are on.

will a 6 spade rotary switch off a 1086/1586 work for this application?

thanks

bass

UNLESS you are running LEDs. Then the stock switches can handle it.

With incandescent lighting, 7 is too many for a stock switch like others have said. It's barely adequate for 5. You'd have to run relays.

Well yaq sure don't have the Stock amount of lights on it , so let me put it this way to ya , there is NO I H switch that will handle all the lights you have on it . and unless you have a 65 plus amp alt. you don't have enough amps . Figure 5 plus amps per light plus putting a charge to the battery then figure in line lose . Then stock light switch on even a 1086 has a hard time with six lights and burns up . I H light switches are whimmpy and fail all the time on just two head lights and one rear light then ya add in three more they get HOT . So it sound like you put 06 fenders on it and ya want to light up the night . SOOOOOOOO here is what ya need to do and keep the stock switch with out melting the tractor down in a huge fire ball. Your going to want to BUILT a system with circuit breakers and C V relays , Feeding power from the hot post on the starter to a line buss to the circuit breakers and then power from the breakers to the C V relays then to the lights and you use a four possession switch from a tractor like a 706 or so and break it up so you still have your dims and road lights and flasher then road lights bright with flasher and rear red light and then field lights . Main feed wire from the starter should be of 10 Ga, and to the lights use 14 ga. once ya have all the pieces and parts and a location to mount a half day should get the job done .

I thought the rotary light switch was wired to 1-turn on flashers,2-head lights, and flashers with a red facing tail lamp, 3-head lights and field lights(fender mount) and tail light(s).Mark.

From what you are describeing, sounds like too many amps for one switch.I've tried the same thing, with less than favorable results..Might be best to run two switches.Maybe keep the rotary for the 'stock' lights. Add a HD push/pull for the extra fender lights.Maybe also run a breaker/relay instead a fuse.
