So my cub would not start after sitting all summer. Pulled the carb
Opened it soaked in cleaner for two days. Now it will start but dies the second the choke is shut off.
I did not drain all the gas as only little was in the tank. Put about 1 1/2 gal of fresh in.
Thanks for any help

(quoted from post at 17:01:10 12/06/19) Main jet plugged up. More cleaning and running a wire through passages. Jim
lso make sure you did not get the choke lever on wrong, and are choking it when the lever is pushed in. I have seen it happen.

When ones cleans a carb you need to do these things and not doing any one of them will cause a problem like you have.
#1 a good soaking in a good carb cleaner for 24 hours or so which you did
#2 a good spraying off of the carb with carb cleaner spray.
#3 poking out all the passageways with a piece of wire or as I use a touch tip cleaner tool.
#4 once needs to also blow them out and all passageways with air.
#5 repeat 2,3,4 at least 3 times

Have you checked the gas flow by removing the the carb drain plug? My cub kept stopping the other day every time I went to pull forward. I added more gas to the tank and
haven't had a problem since.

I've noticed mine won't run when the gas is low but still looks like enough in the tank to run - seems to need a little head pressure to make enough gas flow. Not sure whey.

Good evening, Steve: This may be help or maybe not; I have a Cub about a 1958 model, the carburetor looks like there is no high speed jet. I found out the high speed jet is a fixed, non-adjustable type. It looks like a sort of plug screwed into the carburetor. IIRC, if it is removed, you can see a large and a small drilled passage near the tip, these must be cleared of any trash.
