Did they ever make a snow plow blade for this tractor?? Is the Super A blade the same? If a SA blade is the same I'm guessing I would have to modify the lift set up???

Thanks Joe

I believe they did and that it is basically the same #60 grader blade that goes on a Super. Obviously the lift is manual on a straight A. The plate that bolts to the side of the bell housing is different also I think because the hole pattern is in a slash instead of a back slash (to use today's computer lingo) or the other way around. I've seen a manual for the blade and straight A but was never able to actually locate the lift mechanism pictured in that manual.

There were some aftermarket blades as well. I made the mistake of buying one off an A with pneumatic lift thinking I could make it work on my SA. It didn t. It is a quality blade, more solid than IHs blade. Frame goes back to the draw bar.

Wow a set up for a pneumatic set up don't see those much. I have the exhaust lift on my A. Did the cylinder mount on the driver side for the snow plow??

Yes. I never saw it hooked up. The guy I bought the plow from restored the a but left the plow blade off. There was a cable attached to the blade that went to the pneumatic lift. The pick points were different than where I could attach with my sa rock shaft which was why I could never pick the blade up

I'm not sure if ih made a blade for the a. I think the 60 blade came out in 55 and it had an optional hand lift. I m assuming that was for a s as sa s had touch control. I ve never seen an sa without touch control. I have seen first year cubs without touch control. I d guess finding one of those manual units difficult

You could make it work on your Super A, you just might need to modify the lifting bracket.

I modified a blade to fit my Super A and ran a frame back to the rear axle as well. It picks up the blade just fine. I am thinking about putting the blade on my 45 A, as it isn't much fun having to mount and dismount the blade all the time to put on the turning plow or cultivators. For me, the A doesn't have much useful purpose other than sitting around all the time, so I am going to mount that blade on there so it will get used more. It's hard finding a way to keep 9 tractor from just sitting around all the time.
