UD or PD engine ID?

I have lurked on here for a while and I can usually find the info I need, but I am stumped now. My Aunt is selling off the shop and part of this is an Onan
generator connected to an IH UD? engine. Its a 4 cyl with a turbo, starts on gas then switches over. I can't ID this thing and the pictures below are all I have
to go off of, it is in Kansas and I'm in DC, and the Aunt is in Nebraska. I just want to know what this thing is because I think it is cool and I want to give
her the best info for her auction. Since I grew up with Allis Chalmers, red stuff scares me.

UD, stands for utility diesel, that looks like a MD, or the Super MD family of engines, except i never seen one with a turbo on it, Chances are it doesn't have many hours on it and it's been inside, they will last a long time. They do start on gas and switch over to diesel!

Given the size of the grill, I'd guess the engine is the same size as a WD-9's engine. I wonder if they made turbos for 9's. jal-SD

Pretty sure it's UD9, or possibly a UD14.

Only UD family engine with a turbo I ever saw was a 6 cylinder UD24 with what looked like a factory-installed turbocharger in a TD24 crawler. But the turbo in your photo looks factory as well.

looks like the UD14 engine like the one in the TD14 ih crawlers. they are 461 cid. engine. same bore as the wd40. looks too big to be the ud9 as in the wd9 tractors. that turbo is an add on, ih did not have turbo's on those engines. plus the oil filters are ud14 not ud9's. the UD14 was built from 1940-1947. but,... look on the engine serial # plate and it will tell you exactly what engine you have.

Looks to be a UD14A that someone added a turbo. Look at the engine block just below the head and behind the injector lines clamp for a stamped in engine prefix and serial number.

Thanks for all the quick replies! The engine still runs, or did a year ago when my Uncle died, the generator stopped making power that same day. It is on an online auction so I'll get the title updated and see if someone local can get a picture of the data plate on the bellhousing.

M&W is a company (still making things, but not tractor accessories) that made hundreds of components for tractors (I think mostly IH, but others as
well) from throttle levers to PTO handle extensions, to governors that clame better response, to turbo kits, and transmission gear sets that added 4
more speeds to a Farmall M. Jim

Thank you. I got a reply from the auctioneer and they won't provide any pictures. This is too bad but it is still a cool old setup.

Can you please provide contact info for the auction? We've had several people say that might like to bid on it.

Here is the link, there are two auctions for her place and the other is Burr Oak auction 1. They end this weekend and everything is pickup only. I hope it brings more than the $100 I have on it. Also an M or H with a hay fork.
