'48 Model B Zenith carb

Greetings, I'm new to this forum, so I'll start by saying thanks for all the interesting info from all who have posted.

I have a '48 FA mod B with a Zenith B carb. Looking to take it apart & clean it, but noticed the fine wire on the bolts holding the float bowl on. I've seen this on other types of mechanisms, but can anyone explain the significance in this situation (ie: original, rebuilt, vibration, etc.)?

I'm including some photos for any possible ID of the carb model (obviously a B). On the opposite side from where the B is, there is another designation that looks like a #6 (rotated counter clockwise). Does this mean anything?

Any input would be appreciated BEFORE I tear it apart! Thanks.

Could be there as a rebuilt indication, could be there as an anti-vibration wire. I doubt removing it will have any effect on your tear down of the carb. Given the age of the carb, I'm sure any mechanic's warranty has long since expired.... :!:

Those wires were put there by the last guy that rebuilt that carburetor. He guaranteed his work, and didn't want anyone to tamper with it. At one time there may even have been a "seal" with his initials crimped onto those wires.
