farmall 806

I need to replace the seals under the steering wheel on my 806 and 856, I have been looking for the best way to pull the steering wheel, some say get a steering wheel puller and some say get a bearing puller. What do ya'll think? thanks

Steering wheel puller. Just make one. Simple to make. a 1/4x1 1 1/2" chunk of metal. drill 3 holes. One center, one each side to line up with the steering wheel pulling holes.3 bolts of the coprrect lengths. And pull the wheel.

I just put a bar like Delta said ,only 2 holes for the wheel. I put a socket upside down to push on with the bar. Then as you tighten them just hit the plate with a hammer if it is stubborn the first bit. To change the seals just turn the wheel and it will push the brass ring bearing and seal out after you take the snap ring out. After you do the first one the others are easy.

This is a twenty min job . IF you have done it before. So here is what ya need , ya need a 1/4 x28 bottoming tap , ya need one narrow steering wheel puller , ya need two 1/4 x28 bolts of grade five or better 6 and 1/2 inches long . Ya need one 1/2 drive socket and forgive me here i plum forgot the size i am thinking it is a 1 and 1/8 Old age is doing it's thing on me , ya need a set of snap ring pliers . Ya tap out the TWo holes in the steering wheel ya remove the nut . you place the puller on the steering wheel you tighten it up and oh yes ya need a hammer to give the puller a rap and the wheel pops off , ya remove the snap ring , then you set the wheel back on the shaft and give a quick shaqrp twist and i don't care what way you twist it the seal will just pop up and out . Replace seal and bushing install snap ring replace wheel and tighten up the nut and you are done.
