Utility 484 handle snow blow

Does anybody use a 484 50 hp with a 84? snow blower and is a good I deal to even use a 4x2 tractor with a snow blower.

I run a 6 foot blower with a Farmall 300, so I think you'd be okay. We get a lot of snow here sometimes, but with chains I have not had a problem getting around. I have to stop and start to let the engine catch up when opening up 3 foot high snowbanks that the plow throws up sometimes, but for a foot or two of snow it does just fine.

Hi, used an IH #70 which is 78" for years on a 454 which is same as 484 but one generation older. The good thing is the 484 has 4 rev gears and if T/A equipped then 8 rev gears.
A lot depends on the type of snow you receive in your area, light fluffy or heavy wet snow.
My brother runs the farm now and he has two farm lanes to plow totaling close to one mile. He has a CIH 3230 (like 584) with spike chains front end loader and a back blade. He uses this combination to feed cattle at both farms daily and if the snow is heavy and wet or a small amount of light fluffy snow then he uses the back blade.
When it really is deep snow then he uses his IH 684 (60 HP) with the #70 blower.

Cousin in northern MN has an IH Hydro 100 and an IH #80 blower, the same as #70 but with dual augers as he gets a lot of deep drifts from blowing snow.
If you have hills and or ice under then chains are a must.

It takes the 84? to cover the wheel span on the 484 model. Did the 72? cover yours on the 454. My tractor does have the 4 rev with T/A and I figured this would be a plus.

Hi David, I was wrong the IH #70 is 7' or 84" and does cover the 454 and 684 as rear tires are set to almost minimum width.. I had Googled IH 70 snowblower and the answer was 78" wide.

With your 484 with T/A there should be no problem with 84" snow blower except in heavy wet snow no snowblower works well.
Some people have tried various lubricants on the snowblower blower drum and chute to prevent snow from sticking.
The man that does our driveway has a 110 HP New Holland 4WD with a snowblower and it will not blow heavy wet snow either. He uses it as a blade when it is heavy and wet.
BE CAREFUL never try to clean a plugged blower with PTO running, get an old hockey stick or shovel handle.

I used to run an IH 70 (78") snow blower on a CIH 495 (42 PTO HP) so two gens newer than the 484.

Was more than the width of the 495, but tires were set dished in.

Worked no issue, R1 nice and slow, quick shift to H1 for back up the driveway.
