Farmall B Steering Shaft U-Joint Replacement

The U-Joint in the steering shaft is shot. It looks like this cannot be repaired like other U-joints I am familiar with? Usually there are snap rings that can allow the inner bearing to be replaced, retaining the knuckles. But there are no snap rings on my U-joint. Looks like the whole knuckle assembly must be purchased? Anyone know where I can find one?
 
Get out your calipers and measure the cross. Then go buy one that fits. Your local NAPA should be able to supply it. then press out the old cross,press in the new one, A bit of heat may be required on the yokes.Or go and buy a complete Ujoint assy.But then you would have to cut the shaft to install the new one.
 
Looks like the yokes are white metal? If I heat them and try to open them up I think they are going to snal off??
 
I'm not familiar with a B shaft but I replaced my Super C u-joints with Napa joints, just knocked it apart and took the evidence to Napa.
 

You probably need to buy the whole assembly. Use a hacksaw to cut the old one off, then drill some holes and insert roll pins.
 
This is my U-Joint. The is no cap on the knuckles to allow the inner bearing to be removed??

That picture looks exactly like the original steering U-joint on my 1940 H. I had to replace the entire unit. The originals can not be rebuilt.
 
Several years ago, closing on twenty I think, I had the same difficulty with our Farmall BN. Went to a surplus store PRINCESS AUTO. Found a complete u Joint, same sized shaft on each end as the tractor. undid the old one by removing any pins and set screws, Needed to rework a half moon key since the new joint had a wider slot that the shaft, [ took a wider key and filed the section that fit the shaft], then reassembled. Still working. The replacement u joint was slightly beefier than original IHC but works well.
