No first or reverse gear

Doing some bucket work with my 3444. I went to put it into reverse and heard a "clunk" noise, and then no resistance to put it in first or reverse. The other gears are fine. It's going to be a pain to remove the inspection cover because of all the hydraulics, but I hope I can get it off without having to remove the entire hydraulics housing on top of the seat.

So what do you think? Did the shifter come out of alignment off a fork or rail or something? I know that first and reverse are the same gear with the addition of an idler gear for reverse, but I am having a hard time picturing it all. I sure hope I can fix this by taking off the inspection cover on top and not have to remove the entire transmission.

Thanks,
Chad
