(quoted from post at 09:31:07 11/09/19) They had one or the other, they don`t have both.
it has a cam driven pump;i put another one on it that Ii know is good, but doesn't work on this tractor.i put it back on my other340 and it works fine.i thought maybe they may have both cam driven and transmission driven.

What is the tractor doing? Is the engine grunting and the pump whining as if it's trying to pump against something, or does it seem like nothing is happening at all?

If nothing seems to be happening, it is most likely due to the pump not picking up prime.

doing nothing.so I took that pump off and put on the other340 I have and it works fine.dont seemto prime on the tractor it came off of

One more item. If the screen in the reservoir is plugged, it will not prime. A nasty device to get at, Lid off, but either make one or buy a
new one (nasty price), Draining the reservoir (right bottom corner of seat area) you could see it with a fiber scope. Jim

ow do I get to the screen you are taking about to clean or replace?i do have a scope

I've had a 340 since 1995. Mine will sometimes lose prime. I crack the big hose where it ties into the
steel line. It let's the air escape. Try it and good luck

will give it a try, getting air somewherecause oi gets milky look like its getting air in it

Mine will lose prime if hy-tran level gets low, as I have a couple seals that leak. When it loses prime I drive it to somewhere I can get the front end lower, like a ditch or septic system mound. That works good for me.
