340 International alternator conversion

Wondering if anyone has done this particular conversion, as the front lower bolt goes into a blind tapped hole, so not as easy as usual, can't just run a long bolt and spacers. The regular lower flange on the GM 1-wire I have is much too thick, but if I were to flip it upside down and drill the flange that is usually the adjuster side, and machine it a little thinner, it would line up, and just use a bolt and nut on the adjuster. As I also have a 330 with the same engine, wondering if anyone has found an alternator that will fit without mods- probably why I am not finding a kit for these particular tractors. PO of the 340 had installed a 12V bat at neg ground and ran it a long time, so it's generator is dead, Just pulled the one off the 330, which has a reman sticker, wishful thinking that it will work at original 6V pos ground, but would like to go to 12V alt instead. I see a few alts on ebay that came off 340s with some kinda hokey fabbed up brackets, trying to avoid that if possible

The C-135 is just a bored out version of a Super C engine, and the A/B/C series tractors are just about the easiest to bolt an alternator on to that there are... Not sure what would be different on yours.

Well, this bracket kit says Super C etc., but does not say 340 or 330- seems like if it would fit, they would say so. It does appear that it might, with the two horizontal holes and the 2" space for the alt mount- just like to hear from someone who has actually done it before coughing up 50 clams for the brackets

you want the one made for farmall 140 super c one wont work the 140 mounts the alternator higher if you compare them you will see the 140 legs are longer than the super c

Thanks- sounds like you have done this yourself? That's what I was looking for, been there done that experience. I will take a look at that one and compare. Both tractors have loaders, 330 a Wagner step-through, and 340 a big Farmhand that was probably made for M type tractors, but both have pretty good clearance around the generator. Even if the gennie off the 330 works, I would rather spend money on an alt convert than buying a 6V battery
