Hey Everyone,
I am right in the middle of my first tractor engine rebuild. Pulled a completely frozen and abandoned 53 Super C from a farm, and finally managed to get all of the pistons out, and all of the sleeves out except for 1. Engine is still in frame.
After I moderately cleaned things up, I noticed this chip in the lower portion of one of the sleeve bores, just above where the lower gasket sits (see pics). The gasket popped out and is actually not damaged at all, don't know if that means anything.
Before I ask the question, it should be noted that rebuilding this tractor is purely for fun and it will not be used for actual work. Just want to eventually start her up and drive around...
So, is this a lost cause or is it worth installing new sleeves and pistons and rolling the dice with this chip? Is there any way to repair this, with a jb weld type product after I place the new sleeves in?
Thanks in advance for any responses!
