Need some expertise. I have a 1948 Cub that has transmission (bearing and gear) issues...casting code 351530-R1. Is a transmission with a 351530-R6 a direct replacement?

I am am not aware of any differences in the way they bolt up, 2nd gear speeds may change and there was a pto delete. Anyone know of any other issue?

The way IH part numbers work is that anything with the same main part number, and a higher (R)evision number, is generally backwards compatible. So R6 is compatible with R1.
Yes, not always, but a Cub is a very simple tractor, and it is highly unlikely that there are any incompatibilities.

Thanks, folks.....good information. The clutch shaft front bearing seems a little noisy to me on the R-6....think I'll change that out. Everything else seems as smooth as silk.
