Need to clean rust from my H gas tank

Hi All...
Looks like a picked up a bad fuel load the last time I used my H.
Went to get some mowing done, it would not fire. No fuel in carb. Took it apart, it was full of rust and smelled like varnish.
I overhauled it and dumped all the fuel out of tank.
The tank has a very bad varnish smell and it is also full of rust.
The reason for the post is to ask what would be the best way to clean it.
In other words, what would be the best cleaning agent
to use. Something that I can find locally... Thanks ...

IS the rust from the fuel you put in or from the tank actually rusting. If from the fuel just keep washing it out. IF from the tank then it needs a different cleaning like nuts then tied to a wheel and driven around for awhile.

Hi, Caterpillar Guy...
The tractor had around 8 gallons of fuel in tank. It was in there
for around than 10 weeks and it turned to rust. I have never seen gas turn to rust that quick. It looks like gas that been in there for a very long time.
I've been looking in YouTube...
Looks like pebbles or nuts will work for loosening the rust.
Some videos say to use apple cider vinegar, some say muriatic acid. I guess I can try both ways...
I guess I take the tank to a car wash see how much rust I can remove with Hi Pressure soap. Then I'll try the methods above...
Thanks for the comeback...

I found a YouTube Video on
"Easy way to remove rust from motorcycle gas tank"
using "The Works Basic"
I bought 10 (24 ounce) containers (for a buck a piece)
This stuff is amazing for removing rust.
I threw all ten containers in the tank. The tank was sitting flat on
it's bottom same way it seats on the tractor.
I checked it this morning and the tank is like new where the "Basic
Cleaner" made contact.
I will continue rotating the tank till I get all the interior sides cleaned.
I was amazed on how fast this stuff works.
Just thought I'd share it with you all...

I used white gravel and rode it around for several days, Then pressure wash and appply sealer from YT. Never rust again.
