I feel as though I am posting a question each week on my daughter's project. We cleaned the Fuel Pump and when i disconnected the "pick up" off the pump i did not see an o ring. Does there need to be an o ring where it connects to the pump? I attached a photo.

That would be the "oil pump" and no O-ring is used or needed, at the oil screen tube joint, as the area is submerged in oil.

You might want to take it apart to see if the gears have worn into the cover. If so flat sand it on a piece of flat glass with 250 grit, then 400 grit.
Keep rotating it so the surface stays true/flat as you resurface it. Gaskets are very thin, and available. Jim
