Hydraulics help

Super M. I have replumbed hydraulics for lift with this 2 way valve. I had a standard Christmas tree valve and one hose to this cylinder before. It lets up fine but won't go down as I expected. Do I have to run a hose from other end of cylinder and make 2 way cylinder or is there a way I can change something on this valve to just let it drift down when I move valve other way?
I'm not desiring down pressure on the lift. I know I need a return hose but where should it go?

If that's a double acting spool valve. On the other port of the one going to lift cylinder run a hose from it to a tee at return line or a line from port to reservoir. Depending on weight of lift it may drop kind of slow like that or when oil is cold. Instead of having down pressure when moving the valve you send oil back to sump without deadheading pressure.

Could I run a hose from that same port you are talking about to other end of cylinder and have down pressure. ? Yes it is a double acting valve.
