On my 1951 Farmall H, the water pump needs some work, and I haver decided to replace, but I have no idea where to start. I haven?t been able to find much, information about changing it out or even rebuilding the old one. My father hasn?t worked on any tractors in forty years and until a couple of weeks ago I hadn?t driven one. He remembers a lot of information, but again he never had to work on a water pump, and I?m just flying blind. I would really appreciate any tips and tricks or anyone that has messed with the water pump.

wont get any more straight forward than these old tractors... drain coolant, remove rad, remove fan belt, remove fan, remove pump. replace with rebuilt pump. you will not get rebuild kits anymore. the only trick would be trying to do it with rad on.
think this is hard look at a Duramax diesel water pump then you will change your mind if you think this little tractor is hard.

Timken/National # 473421 (Quantity 2) - Available both on Amazon and eBay
Bearings: 6205 (Quantity 2) - Available both on Amazon and eBay
Graphite Packing: Ace Hardware # 40209 - Available both on Amazon and eBay
Most of the items I got from eBay or Amazon. I have been into 3 water pumps, and I have yet to see one that needs new bearings or a bushing for the impeller shaft (which isn't even listed in the parts diagram).
