I recently purchased a 1963 140. I rebuilt the engine and it runs great. I decided to tackle the hydraulic control box. I purchased a rebuild kit and replaced the seals and gaskets.
I filled it with 30W non-detergent oil and tried it out. No luck.
Last night I took it back apart looking for obvious problems.
The only possible issues I saw were very small nicks in the valves. I filed out what I could so that the parts moved pretty freely.
I reassembled and still no movement.
My thought is that possibly the pump may have a problem. When I rebuilt the engine and started it, the hydraulic pump was on and turning without any oil because I had removed the hydraulic control box when I disassembled the tractor.
The pump is pumping oil because it had oil pour out when I took it off the tractor last night. Could the pump be pumping but be so weak that it wouldn't move the pistons?
Any thoughts?
