A tool box

I just bought an reproduction between-the-seat-rails tool box for my Farmall A, and it doesn't fit. It's about 3/4" too wide for the seat rails. The seat rails look straight and the seat fits on them fine so I think they are OK. This is an early (1939) A. Does anyone know if the early A's had a different seat mounting arrangement? If so, anybody got a box that will fit? Thanks, Brian

I bought one from OEM and experienced the same problem. First of all its a nice box and seems to be as orginal as can be expected. I went through the same checking you explained and then I loosened up the fender/seat brackets and spread the seat rails enough to get the bolts in place. After tightening everything up, it seems just fine. I'm sure that is not the installation intent, but it worked!

Thanks, Bob. I'll try it and see if the brackets are still straight when I get done!

Hopefully you'll find our that the brackets, like mine, had turn inward a little. Actually, just enough to cause the seat release to not work very well. When you look at the seat action, there's no reason for that to happen, but I think the tool box was intended to be more than a "tool box."
