Super C specs and age

I am brand new to Farmall so would really appreciate some help.
I just inherited a Super C. How do I tell when it was manufactured? Is it a 6volt positive ground and what is the width of the rear axle? (I have to get it in a trailer with sidewall.)

It will have been made between ?51 and ?54. There should be a serial number tag riveted to one side of the battery box. If that?s missing then all of the major castings have a date code that will be two numbers and a letter, all separated by what look like screw heads. The letter will correspond to a year, Y is ?53, Z is ?54. That will give you a rough idea of the time of manufacture. From factory it was 6v positive ground but many have been changed in the last 60 years. As to the width, the rear tires can be adjusted, I?m not sure what the narrowest setting is. If the sides of your trailer are as high as the rear axle you?ll have to measure the tractor as there were several lengths of axle available. Sam

As Sam said width can vary all over the place.

Just an example in my book for by BN the B is show to be set up from 64 to 92 inches measured from center of tire to center of tire!

Can't you get someone to just take a tape measure out to the tractor and measure it before hauling the trailer out there?

Thank you Sam, this is great information and very helpful. I appreciate the quick help. This won't be my last question as I start the work to get it running again.

Thank you Ken, I have my brother taking measurements and each time he comes back with a different measurement that varies as much as a foot so I was just hoping to see what I can expect. My trailer is 7' wide
on the outside which means it is 6-10 on the inside. He also tells me that with flat tires the axle is 22" off the ground which should lift it above the walls of the trailer if the tires hold air. If not I
plan to lift it onto blocks if the axle is too wide. I appreciate your commons sense and insight

Mine is 70 inches to the outside of tires with the wheels each set out about an inch and a half from the axle housings.

If your trailer has sides you need to measure the width at the axles not the wheels. Long axles were an option and they really stick out. Most will fit on a 82 inch wide trailer with no trouble.

First of all WOW! your tractor looks fantastic! I just got mine home. It turns out the axle was 94" long so required some creative solutions to get it up and over the wall of the trailer. I can't wait until I have turned mine red. Have to get to run first.

Hi again Ken, I have the tractor home and there is a plate riveted to the box below the seat. The numbers are 112667 with 181 below and to the right. Does this mean anything to you?

Hi Ken, not a bad thing at all. In fact really exciting. I got it home and hooked up a jumper to see if the starter would even turn. It did and even rolled the engine a bit. All great news so now the fun begins.
