I came across this nice barn find of a Super M TA. The tractor has not been used for years, but the old owner kept it started and in running condition.

He put an obnoxious loader on it for round bales, 4' bales, and decided he had better beef up the front end, so he installed a W9 front end. It's amazing how easy this tractor steers and turns. After taking the loader off, and a 3 hour long bath (it seemed, man it was greasy)I put some fresh gas in it and it fired right up. Great oil pressure. The TA actually works like it is supposed to. The old fellow said it should work, because he never used it.

He kept the original front end, so I need to get it and the drawbar assembly back on it. He put a shop built (not factory)3 point that had incorporated the drawbar, so I took the 3 point off and need to get the factory drawbar back on.

Looks funky with the W9 front end, but sure drives nice..lol. Is the PTO shield the same as a M, or more like a 400? Thanks - Bob

Previous owner put an alternator on it thus the sheet metal work. I would need an original generator to go back to a correct hood. Does anyone know if a regular M hood will work?

The plan is to sell the M TA. I had to buy it when I bought his 930. The old fellow who owned them can no longer drive them because of health and moved to town. Just wanted them gone. Bob

Not sure on the loader. Kind of a junker in my mind, but Im sure in its day it was a great help.

There is alternator kits that fit without cutting the hood. From I have read on here, the Super's use a longer hood.

It's very easy to install an alternator under the hood of an M-MTA, no "kit" required.

All you need is a piece of 3/8" all thread and a few nuts. Flip the generator bracket over. Some alternators need the lower mounting lug trimmed to get the pullies lined up. Original belt and original top brace can be used (with a little massaging).

If the alternator didn't fit under the hood of an SMTA without BUTCHERING IT, the old guy did something wrong.

H and Super H are way tighter under the hood than the M series and if my Dad got a Delco 10SI under a stage 2 Super H hood without hacking away on it, shame on all you guys that have cut tractors up.

Now now, no need to get upset. That hood is EASILY repaired especially if you have a MIG welder. I did one once with a stick welder and it came out good as new. No harm, no foul.
