Farmall M oil help

So I was taking the gas tank off again as it wss dirty from sitting, then this aux oil filter type thing fell off? Idk what it is, do i need this or what? Its just a big can with a line from the factory oil filter to it, then back to the block

I see other pics online of other farmall m's and they just have plugs where the lines run

Probably has a toilet tissue roll inside it. Remove it completely and use the original filter. They don't work with modern toilet paper, and didn't do much in its day. Jim

Thats hilarious! I did take it off and plug the holes yesterday and did an oil change, works good now, 1 more question, when i move the throttle handle there is some slack in it, i can move it like an inch before it actually moves the arm at the governor, just tighten up that nut with the 2 springs? And then last year i had the fuel tank off and completely cleaned it out with a pressure washer, had it looking brand new inside, because i couldnt get it running it sat for a year, now there is a bit of crud in it again and plugging up the little hole in the sediment bowl, do i clean it out again then use that fuel tank liner stuff? Or what do you think is best?
