I need some help finding a tach cable for a diesel 3414. Most cables listed for this machine specify that they are for the gas variant, not the diesel. I finally found one for a B414, which while being of the correct configuration, is only 36" long compared to the required 48" length.
The parts manual lists it as two parts
Shaft: 3049482r91
Core: 3049371r1
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The usual failure was the tach drive mechanism that ran off the top of the oil pump shaft on the BD-154 Diesel. Also if you live in a colder climate make sure that the tach cable has a coating of a light grease so that moisture doesn't collect and allow tach cable to freeze to the outer cable.

Please forgive me, I know very little about tach cables. With the product suggested in the above link, I see no reference to the tractor model nor to the listed parts numbers. How are you cross referencing the model numbers to know it will work?

How about the one linked below? If NOT, what ends do you need?

Storing Your Tractor - by Staff. If your tractor is going to be stored for any length of time, a few precautionary measures are helpful in preserving various parts, also in avoiding future difficulty. Store tractor under cover. If impossible to place tractor under cover, be sure to cover air stack and exhaust pipe. Drain radiator and engine block. To avoid gum content collections, drain both fuel tanks and carburetor. Leave radiator and fuel caps slightly loose to protect gaskets. Block tractor up to remove weight from tires and to keep tires from contact with moist floor.
