Need some information a late super m/md has the round type pto housing. Lever is a hand lever similar to the Torque amp lever. Is this the live pto and how does it work? Much different than the older m with just a rod you pull. Thanks for any replies from farmall people.

Sounds like to me, it's a Super MTA, which hand is it designed for ?
Does it look like this one? If so it's a independent PTO. Not counting a manual disconnect under the tractor center housing the input shaft of the PTO is turning anytime the engine is running. Lever is to turn it off and on. Would be a Super MTA serial number 60,001 and higher. Louisville built SM with a higher number not included.

If that tractor is indeed a diesel and it has a PTO similar to the one shown by D Slater with a right hand PTO control lever that tractor would be a Super MTA diesel. It can be a very sought after tractor by collectors.

What is the difference, of a 400,and a SMTA, besides the width of the top cover!
