I have a 53 Super H with a cracked fan belt sheave. I知 thinking about changing the entire water pump as a new sheave comes with a new water pump. I知 not sure how to remove the fan or the sheave or the water pump for that matter. Do I need to remove the hood and front cowl? Thanks.

I would just change the sheave. With the fan off it should just unscrew then screw the new one on. The fan should just unbolt with 4 bolts. The bracket with the springs have a set screw to hold it on the shaft then like said.

The M water pump adjustable sheave will screw off when you take the front plate off BUT, an H or Super H water pump has a pressed on rear sheave that has to come off to replace the adjustable one. Also, has a pin through the flange anchoring it in place and bearings have to come out to drive that pin out and retrieve the pin.
