I'm working on rebuilding my governor. The spring on the bottom side was broke/missing. I'm ordering a new one but was wondering if there should be anything on the end of it for it to push against the rockshaft?

No, the little "bumper spring" just protrudes out from it's hollow adjusting screw all naked and alone!

That being said, that little contrivance, the "governor bumper spring" is really an oddity and anomaly amongst engine or tractor engine governors.

I can't think, offhand, of another engine that uses such a setup (although I'm sure there are some), and these engines will typically function just fine if the bumper spring is broken or missing if the governor, the carburetor, and the linkage are all in good shape.
