Polarizing a generator...

...need a quick refresher, can't find my darn notes. 6 volt positive ground system.

Using a jumper, do I touch the generator post that goes to VR with the negative post of the battery briefly? I think that was how it worked but it is a new VR and I really don't want to cook it.

Take a short wire & hold it to the batt terminal on the VR & tap the A post on the genny.

To Polarize use a jumper wire to momentarily flash jump from BAT on VR over to GEN/ARM terminal. If the VR's GEN/ARM terminal is hard to get at (like on some 4 terminal VR's where its underneath) jump from BAT on VR direct to gennys ARM post. Should get a spark when you jump. Do this BEFORE starting.
