International 706 diesel glow plugs

I read a few reports of folks using Ford 7.3 glow plugs (ZD-11) but I hear different reports of what die size/pitch to use on the Ford glow plugs. Has anyone here done it?

I have those in my 560D I use on tractor drives. All you need to do is two things, run a SHARP 3/8 inch die over the new plug threads so they will fit the injector body. Each wire end needs changed to bullet type. Mine will start now cold with 12-15 seconds heating now.

I can't get a 3/8 inch die anywhere neer the threads. It seems that these are 1/8 / NPT? I can turn that on the OEM by hand part way over one I took out.

Plugs are NOT 1/8 pipe, but 3/8 X 24 fine thread. Plug seals compression on the lower tapered seat. The die will be a challenge to get past the center where the part number is stamped, but the die will work by turning it there also. Have several other IH engines done just like mine.

That's is what I've read, but the die at the top (see photo)is the 1/8 NPT 27 that I threaded on by hand until it stopped. The second die is the 3/8 NF24 and it won't even begin to go over the shafts - it's too small.....

I have them in my 460D as well, they work very well and see a lot cheaper. I did the same as Dieseltech did and ran a 3/8" fine thread die over them. Make sure they're Powerstroke glow plugs, not 7.3 IDI glow plugs.

OK, I still don't understand why the 3/8 NF24 doesn't slip up to the threads - but I confirmed the 3/8 NF24 tap does thread into the glow plug hole. I'll buy the ones for the 7.3, re-thread them with the die, and run new wires to the whole setup.

Thanks!
