Homemade bush hog.

I'm considering utilizing a 4' bush hog that is to small for anything I have. Considering building a mount that would hold it to the right of the tractor fior getting around field edges. I'd need a right angle gear box or use hydraulics. Might even consider being able to turn up on side vertically for side trimming. Anyone got a picture something similar. I know they make sidehogs but hard to justify for a hour or two a year. I'm well aware of safety considerations.

Otherwise. If you have any type useful creation for your farmall please share. I need a new project. Lol.

There?s a front loader attachment primarily for compact tractors called a ?Laneshark? you might want to have a look at. Good luck. Sam

Hydraulic drive is much easier to configure than gear box/shaft drives. A 4X4 tool bar, and Fast hitch or 3 pt mount for it, that would provide the Right hand offset needed could make up the foundation. A henge to allow it to both sit flat on its own wheel system for flat edge trimming, and be lifted to 90 degrees for side mowing, is then possible. I see no real need to creat the complexity of a hydraulic tilt, it could be manual (for tilting to vertical). The depth control wheels would need to be capable of multi directional travel without sliding sideways. Jim

You just summed up my thoughts exactly. Main frame, hydraulic power, and manual tilt. Add a mesh guard somewhere between seat and hog just for good measure.

Jim. What type size hydraulic pumps would you use? It's only a 4' hog.

Was actually thinking about adding a cylinder that would allow me to slide it farther right or pull it in closer also.

Sized to handle the 25 to 30 HP you expect to use at that width and brush. Make sure there is a relief valve in the system. Make sure your PTO RPM and Pump displacement/motor displacement and blade RPM are calculated. Ask when you get farther along if the RPM/displacement stuff is needed. Jim
