I?m doing a major out of the frame overhaul, and find out this engine has been balanced before. Have had no experience before in having something like this rebalanced. Do all the rotating/ moving parts have to be sent away? I?m just thinking they do, as it?s just like starting from the beginning? Will also find someone who can do it and talk to them. Just wanted a little feedback on balancing...
Thanks

A balanced engine runs much smoother, makes a little more HP too. Hope you have better luck finding somebody to balance your engine than I did finding somebody to balance a big piston compressor company I worked for rebuilt. Compressor had been balanced when our shop built it 30 years before.
You will need to supply all moving parts, rotating and reciprocating. The shop will precision weigh everything, and actually balance the engine to a certain percentage of unbalance. They will use half the weight of reciprocating parts and all the weight of rotating parts, or vice versa.

Do a Google search on Engine Balancing and get familiar with the terms and what all is involved. Talk to people at shops that say they balance engines. You will soon be able to tell who is BS-ing you and who knows what they are talking about.

That was all done for you at the factory when it was built new and unless your making Major changers then ya need to do nothing unless the crank needs turned or your cam is El scrap o . No rebalance is needed just a new harmonic balancer . Stop over thinking the wheel .
