On a 1955 300, will a Van Sickle spray can with 355 70 on it work? I want to do some minor touch up. It has been painted with the original IH paint and not sure if this is correct color. I cannot find any reference for this paint number and there are two different IH paints available. The other is a 455.

Paint from two different manufacturers won't match. Heck most of the time paint from the SAME manufacturer won't match.

If the tractor was painted with CaseIH paint, your best bet is to get a spray can of IH red from the CaseIH dealer. Even then it won't be a perfect match but hopefully it won't be glaringly obvious.

I repainted my 1950 H with van Sickle IHC red, and it sort-of-not-really matched the IHC red color. I thought, well, close enough. But then it turned a white film, over the entire project, just sitting in the shed. Never again van Sickle for me.
Went to my IHC dealer, got a 6-pack of red B17566 or similar number, perfect match to the Farmalls on the lot. With a 6-pack, you get the same lot number. For touch-ups. Has been great paint for 12 - 15 years now. NEVER again van Sickle.

the original paint more than likely won't match if its been on a while. paint a sample piece of steel and compare after its dried good. I just touched up a tractor that had unknown/ 20 plus year old paint on it with hardware store red and it was perfect
