IH 340 Industrial

Starting a new thread for this old 340. I tried to delete the old thread with the giant pics, but I can't edit. It's a 340 Industrial, with a 4 cylinder gas, FEL. Tractor Data only shows 2 diesels in the Industrial. As was stated in the other thread, it's basically the same tractor as the Utility, but yellow. I assume it's the C135 listed in the other 340's? I can get this tractor from somewhere between free and a couple hundred bucks. The next time I go play with it I'm taking my 3/4" drive breaker bar and see if it will spin over. If not, I'll fill the cylinders with 50/50 ATF and Acetone and let it sit for a week or two, works wonders on my frozen chainsaws. The cap is missing off the power steering pump, so it may be full of water. The tractor has been sitting for at least 20 years. I think the owner bought it new, he said he still has all the paper work and manuals for it, somewhere. He said he just parked it because he got a newer JD with loader that was smaller and more usefull on his 3 acre property. If I can get it to turn over I'll take a chance and get it. If it's locked up solid, should I take a chance on it? Are parts available? I could use the loader, that's the main reason I'm thinking about it. Where would you rate it compared to my Massey 135? Here's some of the pics again in small size. Thanks Joe.

If the engine is stuck, they are easily rebuilt, and wet sleeved. they are common and kits are available here on YT Parts. So is
it a Massey 135? Probably close. Jim

I have a 340 industrial backhoe, the power steering runs off the hydraulics as the bucket and backhoe so there is no filler cap just for the power steering. it has a reverser on it so easy shifting. mine doesn't have a pto because of the backhoe. I would like to have one that has a 3pt and pto. nice little tractor. some pats are easy and some are hard to find.

So many visual cues are similar to my 460U with wagner loader.

Its been a very handy tractor despite not being in prime condition.

It's an International 340 Industrial. I was asking how folks would compare it to my Massey 135. I have one of them too.

Plenty of other loaders available for much less work and better loaders. I'd for get it. Might ba free and you will spend the difference getting it running in a condition that is dependable.
