ignitor problem

I have a 1948 Farmall C Tractor that was restored about 8 years ago and the electrical system changed to 12 volts with the ignitor replacing the points. It worked like a charm until last fall. I believe the ignitor is damaged as the switch has been left no numerous times and the battery has been jumped numerous times? Can anyone shed some light on this for me like what is inside the ignitor, can it be repaired? Thank you any help much appreciated.

Most likely, you've let the smoke out of it.

You can try this kit, there's a small chance it will work with the smoke replaced, otherwise you are out about a c-note for a new unit.
