IH 210 windrower fuel pump

I am planning to replace the factory installed mechanical fuel pump with an electric one. I see there are several pressure ranges available (1-2.5 psi, 2-4, 4-7, etc) and would like to know approximately which one would match the factory installed pump. This is a 4 cylinder gasoline engine, much like what is in a Farmall A. I believe it is 153 cubic inch displacement.

You could use a formula to see what pressure of a full tank of gas would have taking into consideration any loss from tank to carburetor. Probably what Jim said on pressure. Back in my younger days on tricked up street engines up to 400 CID I mostly run a electric pump with 7 psi with tee in fuel line at carb entrance and orifice with fuel return line to tank for circulation that lowered pressure a little.

I would use the 2 to 4 psi pump. My reasoning is that the carburetor will be able to control the pressure easily, but if there is a filter in the system the lower pressure might be affected by it, and higher pressure might result in overwhelming the needle and seat. Jim

That is what I was leaning towards as well. Would it be a good idea to wire in a relay for this application, or can I wire it straight to the battery with a toggle switch on the console?

They do not draw much current, I would attach it to the Ign terminal on the key switch. Jim
