Borrow a Carb?

I am not sure if I have a problem with my carburetor. I have a 1940 Farmall A with a Zenith 48616DC. I have been through it twice and convinced it is not clogged. It has a new main jet as well. Idle speed screw has no effect and main jet very little as well until screwed down all the way and the engine stalls.
If I was to pay shipping both ways would someone be so kind as to lend me one of the same kind? (assuming it was in known working order) I don't want to buy a new one and find out that mine is fine.

Time is money and sometimes it becomes time to throw in the towel. Sounds like you have reached that point. I would change the carb and not look back. And no I don't have money to burn.
The other options would be to check your valve clearance to make sure you are getting the vacuum you need to draw the mixture into the cylinder.

Float level is critical on these units.
Varying the level by small increments can make
a huge difference in running.

Float level set to spec isn't a guarantee that it is
correct for individual units.

I had a Zenith carb on a 100 I bought and could not get it to run right. I had it apart several times, cleaned, soaked, ran a wire through ports and never got it to work. I moved it over to my A and it made that tractor run poorly so I knew it was the carb. I finally gave up and bought a new carb.

If I had a good spare I would do that for you but I don't think I have one any more

I sourced one locally, from a friend rebuilding his C. He said he won't need it for a month so I can try it. I have seen many posts and many opinions but I would be curious to try a MS if I could get my hands on it.
Thank you by the way

With out looking to be sure I think the carb on my BA is an IH carb and has no main jet adjustment

Marvel-Schebler is the best IF you can find one. Zenith is good enough. Stay away from the Carter. The carburetors with the IH logo were made for the Hs and Ms. Won't fit an A, B, or C.

I just changed my profile so that you can email me if you wish. May be we could meet up a jaw a bit about tractors...

So how close are you to New London CT. or Groton?? I was stationed at Groton CT back in the mid 70s
