300 Hydraulic question

My 300 Farmall last Friday started leaking a LOT from the Hydra-touch valve area. I did not have time to really look for the leak, but it is above and to the left of the tach opening. From what I could see it looked like it was behind the ammeter area. Trying to get the small dash with the gauges attached out far enough while trying to sneak a look to find the leak is a real pain!!! I have had this apart several years ago, overhauled the valves and sealed everything up. It has been leak free since then until Friday when I was doing a lot of dirt work with the loader. Anyone have any ideas with the location of what the leak might be from? I know a lot more people out there have hundreds of hours working on those nicely buried valves!!! The major problem is the tractor is 2 hours away, so that creates a problem for working on it.

Could be several things without knowing exactly where the leak starts. Check to make sure the little line to oil pressure gage is okay. Several had the oil coming from there instead of hydraulics that I repaired.

The valves have orings where each valve joins the adjacent valve. Their is also a relief valve that has orings. I replaced all of the orings which slowed my leak. The valves also have orings which require taking the valve apart. I did not replace the valve orings and still have some seepage but not bad. Replacing the join orings is not an issue getting access is an issue. I removed the entire good and moved the dash back for good accress

That is a 'stacked' valve setup. There are a 'bazillion' O rings there. Your leak could be any one(or more) of them. It might ever be hose.It's pretty much impossible for us to tell you "where".Take off the hood and cowling and look.

Disconnect the battery before you dig into it.

Check for oil coming from the vent. With heavy use the oil may overheat & foam up.

No way around it, the stacked valves are a pain to work on. When I do my 450LP o-rings I will be changing every single one in there, all at the same time. Must be near 50 o-rings between the valves, pipes and relief/regulator. When I did my 450 gas, I stupidly used a slightly undersized o-ring in the last valve. That started leaking pretty so quick. Don't forget the o-rings and clips for the steering priority valve plugs. Those seem to blow out at the worst time. The IPLs will have the oring dash numbers so you can have them on hand.
