Farmall 300

If my 300 sits for awhile it some how gets air in the hydraulic pump. I crack the discharge line at the pump and it's good to go. I've replaced the suction hose. I can't find any leakage and the fluid level in the tank remains the same. Do you folks here any ideas what could cause this?

If the vent in the reservoir is plugged, or replaced with a no vented plug, the system might suck in air through the pump seals (one way seals) when the oil temperature cools and volume decreases. Jim

I have that problem to with a 450 that loses its prime when sitting. I'm not sure if it would help to keep the back up higher if it sits?
