Farmall Super C questions

Hello not sure if I ever posted here or not as I always had so much trouble logging in? But have been lurking looking for answers for a while. So hello. Have most Farmall tractors am not a collector and use mine for lawn mowing {1947 Cub} or Baling, raking or what ever {two 460 and a 560 gassers}.

Just looked at a Super C with mower deck and though there might be some carb work needed it ran pretty decent with very little smoke. Seemed like it was flooding out a little at lower idle speed and then got harder to start like it was flooding. slightly higher RPM was fine. My question comes from a noise I heard in first gear only when moving. All other gears were fine, clutch and throw out bearing seem to be not connected to the noise. It is more of a rattling sound than a squeal or gear knocking each other or bad engagement? Hard to describe the noise in English. My Cub when in neutral has a similar noise or rattle but only when clutch is out and in neutral. On the Super C I looked at the clutch made no difference in or out. Only noise when en motion. Never had a C before so I do not know their quirks. I hesitate to say what it is as I really don"t know. Do not recognize the noise. All other gears no noise that would alarm anybody. Clutch seems really good and in adjustment and again does not seem to be involved. Any ideas or thoughts? I know you cannot diagnose from afar. But for all I know they all do this {seriously doubt that}. Tractor has wide front and a nice IH mower deck. I have a lot of projects and am not excited about buying another that is 200 miles away. Would just like a little more HP for lawn mowing than my Cub. My Cub has been abused like this for about 28 years now but have always thought it was being pushed hard with the 59" woods deck. If I keep up with the grass it does ok but some day it is just going to say "you and I are done". My concern anyway.

Three things come to mind:
The flex joint at the front of transmission/back of torque tube.
Front trans main bearing.
Oiler gear in the trans beginning to break up. (least likely) Jim

Thanks for your input. Watched a couple videos and it doesn't look like a hard to do repair. In my case I have too many projects and don't want to buy another one. Was disappointed as I liked the tractor and deck. Oh well. Thanks again. John.
