Cub leaking oil

My 47 Cub has started leaking oil badly out the back of the engine. Its hitting the flywheel and coming out the implement bolt holes. Its lost a quart with about 1 hour of running this spring. When I over hauled the engine about 3 years ago I put in a new rear main. The tractor doesn't get many hours per year. Could that rear seal have gone that bad that soon. Is there anything else on the back side of the engine that could cause so much oil loss. I don't remember - does the oil pan have to come off to change the rear seal.

The biggest downfall to a Cub is the rear main seal housing. A new seal won t stay tight. There s a guy in New York named Tim who can machine your housing for a bigger seal. A new housing is expensive. He will fix yours for about $65. The tractor will have to be split to fix it.

Thanks for the info - I wish I had known this was an issue with rear seals when I had it apart 3 years ago.
