B275 3pt lift

Hi, I got a International B275. I'm having a problem with the 3pt hitch. Right the lower lift arms sit on the ground with the 3pt all the way lowered. The problem is that to hook anything I have to raise the 3pt hitch almost 1/2-3/4 the way up to connect the pins. Once hooked up I can only lift most things only 4-5" off the ground before the upper lift arms reach thier max height.

Any ideas? I have a feeling the upper lift arms need to be took off and rotated to give me more lift height.

Some 3-point arms are "timed" to the rockshaft by an odd spline, etc., and can only be installed one way, I'm NOT sure if yours are.

That being said, I have a "424", it's younger cousin, and it's lift arms will lower nearly to the ground, yet lift WAY up.

I know your controls are way different than mine, have you tried different positions of the "draft" lever? (Does it even have one?)

NOT sure what might be wrong, that 3-point hitch hydraulic control system is WAY more complicated than it would seem to need to be, if you are going to attempt to repair it, you'll need the IH factory service manual, IMHO.

H, wrong lift arms, those belong to a 54/74/84 series tractors.

The B275 doesn't have draft control but it has "depth control". I tried getting it to lift higher on shallow and deeper and it stays the same on either setting.

Hi, I tried to find the B275, B414, 434, 424 lift link lengths, all I could find was for 424 the lift link with the adjustable crank has a max length of 24" and Min length of 19 1/4".
So measure your lift link with the adjustable crank from where the pin is in the top to the pin in the lift arm.
I know the 54/74/84 series lift links are longer as we had a 684 and 434 and 384. The 434 and 384 were the same 3pt as your B275. One year it was very wet and we chopped corn with a JD 1 row 3pt hitch forage
harvester and the 684 3pt would not lift the forage harvester high enough to clear the mud so we installed the lift links from the 384 on the 684 and because the 384 ones were shorter the 684 was able to lift
the harvester high enough to clear the mud.

There is a poster on this site that goes by JDEM and he has several B275s so maybe he would be kind enough to give you the lift link lengths.

Might have found the problem. I just measured the lift links. The adjustable crank one fully closed is 19-1/4". While the other is 21-1/2" fully closed. So to get the lower arms up to hook up they both need to be 21-1/2". Would 2-1/4" really make a difference? Only one problem with that is. The old set that was seized up meaures 19-1/2" and it still did the same thing. they Hopefully they should be the right ones. I ordered them from yesterday's tractor.

Hi Matt, you could be correct that someone had the lift arms off the rockshaft and re-installed them incorrectly. I looked thru my B414 OP's Manual to see if there was a 3pt height adjustment bud could not
find any. The B414 OP's manual covers both depth control and draft control hydraulics. I did find this drawing in the manual showing the 3pt in raised position.
Also found a photo online of a B250 same as early B275 with 3pt in raised position.

Other than that the only other solution would be to contact JDEM, I left him a message on the tractor talk board.

B250 3pt Raised

Thanks for that picture of how high the arms really go. I called a junk yard and the guy wanted $200+ S&H for a good used set of lift arms. I'll look into seeing if the upper lift arms are installed correctly. Before buying anything else.

Matt, I believe the lift links that you have can be shortened.
If you could post a good photo of each lift link, I could then tell if they are the same as the 54/74/84 series tractors.

those are not off a B275
I am parting out a B414 and a 434. I should be able to beat that price. if you are interested email me your Zip Code

I checked both tractors and neither of them windup properly ( can't sell you something thats not right) Sorry Matt
