2001 loader on a I504U

A few weeks ago I brought home a 2001 loader that was removed from an I424 and want to mount it on my I504U.

Although the axle mounting is quite different, it will set the subframe at the same height as the 504 version of subframe, it will just not be easy/convenient to facilitate removal and reinstall.

My question relates to the forward (above front axle) mounts/rests for the subframe's bayonet (that's what IH referred to it as anyway). If there were some of the proper 340/504/460/606IH forward bracket/rest s available I'd be happiest to purchase a pair, but -nobody- is interested in separating individual parts from a loader assembly, so I'm going to work with what I have.

I don't doubt that I can re-utilize the 424 bracket parts that were included, but I need a measurement of height above some unchanging horizontal plane (frame casting below radiator area?) so that I can prop the subframe up and make a suitable measurement allowing me to produce a set of adapting plates/brackets.

The bottom of the loader subframe is horizontal when it is mounted on the tractor, and would be parallel to any "horizontal" surface on the tractor.

Personally, since you have the rear mounting sorted, I would just eyeball it and match the bottom of the subframe to a horizontal surface on the tractor. If you want to get fancy you could use a level, or an angle finder.

I was just looking for -SOME- information as to the intended height since the bracketry for most all types & series of tractors is terrificly different.
I will use your advice and shoot for parallel to that immovable horizontal surface.

Google search the bracket on the web. Great Bend originally made the loader but have since been bought out. As mentioned before you will need to do some fabricating but the diagrams can help.

I hung the subframes today, and the 424 front rest/brackets needed about 3/8" elongation of one of the two horizontal bolts holes to line up with the 504's upper holes on the frame casting.
A set of longer bolts, a big stack of washers to determine collar spacer length, along with another half hour at the lathe to knock out a set of spacers and I will be done with the front end aspect.
I've got to reposition the wheels to make clearance for the pedals to the subframe s and I will have the worst of it licked.
Getting the fender mounting bolts out that had been in place for 53? years was a good bit harder than this turned out to be.
The bayonet on the subframes -might- be heading downhill a negligable amount, but "big whoop" (it's not like it's inches of incline or anything).
As of now (minus upgrading the hydraulic control valves and replacing hoses & such) I've got a grand total of $220 in the loader, and that includes the $70 in fuel it cost me to go get it!
I figure that I'll have to spend another $15 or so at the nut&bolt warehouse for the needed hardware.
Leaves me plenty left to get the whole business blasted and a fresh coat of paint. White, or Red? Gotta' think on that in the mean time.
