656 farmall gasser

Have a 656 farmall gas that when I shut the pto lever off, the pto will still spin for approx. A few seconds more then shuts off.
Whem the pto lever is engaged, it engaged normally, any ideas ?

When was the last time you change the hydraulic fluid and filter? Sounds like it may be sticking due to old oil. Not an expert but have had tractors due funny things with bad hydraulic fluid

One or more of a few things is happening. First the pressure on the PTO needs checked then the brake could be getting worn out the plates in the clutch could also be slightly warped.

Should stop within three seconds (supposedly). I would say you should check for crud under the boot holding it on a bit first off but most likely you will need to tear it down. A gauge will tell you if pressure is dropping to zero like it should immediately when shut down.
