Fast hitch question.

On the 300U it's hitch has the full size sockets. The 3pt. Adapter bars for the post hole digger needs those slide in adapter bars. I can't find the original set we had. My dad most likely loaned them to some body. We had two sets being one set he made from odds and ends. They are 1/2 inch thick, 1 1/4 inches wide, and one is 12 1/2 long and the other is 14 1/4 inches long. Can someone measure their original bars so I can make another spiffy looking set of spacers? Thanks much. By the way, if you are curious those are old telephone arm brace bars that one of his friends gave him maybe 50 years ago. Everything is hot dip galvanized.

bars

I have a pair with the original IH steel stamped part no. tag still attached identifying them as 520292R92. They are .50" thick, 1.25" wide and 13.25' in length. Measuring from one end there are two .25" diameter holes, the first being .75" from the end and the other being 10.875" from the same end centered in the bar and drilled through the bar width of 1.25". The first hole (the one closest to the end) at the .75" dimension has a 2.00" long split drive pin installed in that hole with an equal amount protruding out each side of the bar. From the same end where the drive pin is installed there is another .25" diameter hole drilled through the .50" thickness of the bar centered in the middle of the 1.25" wide portion of the bar 2.75" from that end.
Since this part is an original IH part there are also two retaining clips included with the above noted assembly to keep them secured in place in the fast hitch sockets but I have never seen the clips installed at any RPRU I have ever attended. The clips would be very difficult to reproduce or find at this time and plastic ties will work just fine if retention is needed for the spacer bars within the fast hitch sockets. Hope this helps in your fabrication but you should try and find some 1/2" thick bar stock 1 1/4" wide as putting those two pieces together you already have will be difficult to drill for the (2) 1/4" diameter holes for retention in the fast hitch sockets, Hal.

Yes my dad cobbled these up many years ago. Would it be possible if you could snap a couple of pictures? That would be great. I have look here and there on the net and just haven't found anything at all. I have a steel supply place down the road where I can buy some strap steel. Very reasonably prices. Gotta love playing with old tractors.

Sorry, but I'm not PC and camera literate enough to take a photo, load into a PC, and post on the internet and let alone on this forum. I tried my best to provide directions which should enable you to make a set and just take all the measurement I provided from the same end of the bar of steel, Hal.

Hal, measurements are good except I don't believe he wants them 13.25 Ft long. How's things been out around Rolla? Been wet here and the river is wide and deep in the lowlands.

I'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow, mine sound the same as Hals but the spiral pins are broken.

These were wired to a fast hitch blade I bought years ago, never used/needed them. Dimensions didn't show up very good the bars are 13 3/8 wide, 1+1/8" wide. has one hole on wide side 2+3/4 from end. The thickness is a half inch and the hole is 2+5/8" from end. Hole in other end is 3/4 inch from end. Holes look like a 1/4 inch.

Tom, Yes that measurement should be in inches and not feet - sorry for any confusion and I guess my typing is about as good as my computer
and photo taking skills.
Lots of rain around here also but no real flooding as we are far away from the big rivers in and bordering Missouri. Being in the Ozarks
does have a few benefits it seems. No hay is being made yet as the rain keeps coming through but looks like a somewhat dry period for a week
or so and will probably see a lot going down shortly. The rain is really gotten the tender lush stuff growing so am expecting a very good
yield on hay once we get started. Also, looks like a very good clover year as it is everywhere in pastures and hay fields, Hal.

not much being done here on the East Coast of Missouri either. Some corn and beans in and some replanting being done on the high ground. Thousands of acres of lowlands under water. The Mississippi River is supposed to crest at Cape Girardeau on Monday at 46', that is 14' over flood stage. When it finally starts falling I think it will take a long time before any planting is done in the bottoms. Some hay has been made but it's hard to get enough dry days in a row. Glad you are doing OK, haven't seen you since Red Power in Sedalia.
