I got # one on compression stroke TDC. Installed my governor on the paint marks on gears, lined rotor on # 1. Will not crank back fire through carb, so my timing is off for sure. Before I take the governor off again to recheck the marks, My question is, at what position should the two notches on the governor line up? Mine are at 2 and 8 O'clock. On my John Deere they are 3 & 9 O'clock, Should the notches be at 3 & 9 also? I've done mags before several times. When I got this tractor I had to set the mag and it fired up on the first spin and has been running great till I took the governor apart to replace a broken rockshaft fork.
