Yep i went to the hospital in need of a triple bypass , according to Podock Junction Hospital i was going to die any min and sent me by ambulance under lights and siren about forty miles to a bigger hospital last Wednesday and the screwing me over started . First night by the time they got me in a room it was midnight with a heart cath the next morning , that kept getting set back and around seven that night was informed that they were done for the day with heart cahts and it would take place first thing in the morning , nah that did not happen as it was closer to 11 when they did and it took less then thirty min.s and back in the room that fgilled quickly with LOTS of white coats telling me i needed a triple bypass , ok fine lets get with it , nah we don't work Saturday or Sunday BUT we will work you in Monday . Sunday Night they tell me that NO they are going to do it first thing Tuesday morning , Ah yea that never happened and was told late Tuesday afternoon that it was going to be first thing this morning . Well ya start prep late in the evening and more blood work . Sorta keep up so got a sleeping pill around 11 and drifter off sometime around say 11:30 . Get woke up at a quarter to four and poked and prodded and once again whipped down with Bactria whipes and another gown change , at 4:45 they come in and suck more blood and i lay there and WAIT as they were comiong after me at 6 , Ah yea NO , wife is there oldest daughter is there after getting up a 4 to make the drive and NOTHING six turns into seven and they are coming they tell me , well we watch 8 oclock pas by and at 8 15 they tell me Oppps not today maybe we can work you in tomorrow or friday . Sorry that was the end of the fuse i plum came unglued and i was mad if i was going to have the big one it was going to be then and even had the head honch up in the room letting him have it . Wife is upset i am ticked . At 1 PM the head honcho of the HORSEPITAL and the head cardiac dr. and i are going at it and i had already set the wife back home for my clothes , when she get back we have one more powwow and we all agree that ok i'll stay and it will be done first think in the morning , at 4:45 a head nurse comes in and informed me that they were going to TRY and work me in . Nope we are done and guess what i am walking out and i did . Yep they say i need this , but it will not be done at that meat market. NOw i am at this point that i really don't care if i live or i die but i am far from done with Altman Hospital of Canton Ohio.
What really flipped my switch was when the head Dr. tried to tell me that Well mergencys ALWAYS COME FIRST , WHOA ah a 75-80Mph Ambulance ride from one hospital to and other is NOT and Emgency .

Set up a trip to a hospital in Cleveland, or Akron They will treat you right and Promptly. Stay with us... Jim

Don?t ignore this Vet.
Like with tractors this ain?t gonna fix itself.
Talk to some people who?ve had this done. There?s more than one hospital that do these.just like machine shops some good some not so good. Do your homework and listen to your war dept or warden as I call mine
Best of luck and keep us updated

No one should have to go through that kind of patient abuse, but it happens all the time. The worst part is there is no accountability because the reasons for your delays are caused by the effort to save money. They could get the proper staffing if they paid overtime, but the administration doesn't want to do that.

Sounds like they were milking the insurance.. I don't blame you for leaving. Look into the other places, and get well soon.

You may want to contact Dr. Kaminski at Medina/Cleveland Clinic read the reviews about him. Do not ignore the bypass if needed. Dr. Kaminski will steer you in the right direction. My email is open. Bill

I know how you feel I was checked in April of 2013 & needed a hip replaced. They milked the cash cow until Feb of 2014 before they got it done. Get a 2nd opinion & good luck!

That is amazingly bad treatment of a patient. I don't blame you for leaving.

But as others have already said, you need to get this done.

I "enjoyed" a triple bypass in February of this year and managed to make it through the surgery and the cardiac rehab sessions afterward. (Those rehab people are sadists! Ha!)

I can't leap tall buildings with a single bound, and I'm not faster than a speeding bullet, but now I can climb a flight of stairs and it doesn't take me 5 minutes of rest to catch my breath once I get to the top.

It's much easier to recover from this surgery BEFORE you have a heart attack than AFTER you have one. And if you've got three blockages, it's only a matter of time.

Get it taken care of.

I said this MANY times, those that do not think the health care system needs fixing has never had to deal with it. Had the unfortunate chance to deal with it just lately. Nothing as serious as your issue, but the system needs fixing badly.

I had a triple bypass Friday March 14th, 2014. University of Wisconsin Hospital Cardiac unit in Madison. About Wednesday morning 8 AM they knew my surgery was happening Friday 6:30 AM. You could set your watch by when they said things would happen. My favorite RN came in on Wednesday about 10 AM and told me how things would go on Friday. They do about 6-8 surgery's a day. Somehow I got the best surgeon, best coronary doctor. No complaints at all. Was admitted Tuesday about 1 AM, would have been sooner but a Male RN at another hospital facility didn't believe I had chest pains or numb hands or arms. After about 4-5 blood tests he believed me.

During rehab I talked with over a dozen other people that had bypasses. Nobody complained about anything except my cardiologist who had the longest wait time to get an appointment but he asked me to be part of a nation-wide drug test for a potential new drug for stroke or heart attack patients. I saw him a couple times a year for that.

I've read where the UW Hospitals are the #4 ranked health care system in the US. Sounds like they might actually be better than that.

I do not now how you are 12 years a go I had 4 bypass but year before they did the bypass I was in the hospital for 17 days and I ran all the test then the surgeon came in and told me I had 98% chance I would not make it through the surgery so they put a defibrillator and pacemaker and me sent me home for year my heart went from 13% up to 35 so they decided to do the surgery and they told me to quit working on heavy stuff but I was bullheaded enough not to do it but I caught up to me now you might want to think about it because I have an uncle that had the defibrillator and bypass done never went back to the doctor and he had it here before I had it never went back and started smoking again when he retired left two years after retirement when he had a massive heart attack he did not make it Iowa Heart did mine and I?m very very please with the help I?ve got now but I?m Downda 23% of the heart now so but I don?t work on the big stuff anymore but I?ve worked on those IH tractor for 45 years so I can?t give them up yet my defibrillator went off little over year ago is my heart quit six Times and I died they said six times But the defibrillator did what it supposed to and the defibrillator put me back in the rhythm all I know I go to Mercy and Iowa Heart and they bring you in for a heart don?t care what time of day they put you through it if there?s a big chance that you ain?t gonna make it and my doctor I got now was one of the nurses it was working in the in that part part and she keeps track of everything that I go to Iowa Heart at least once a month it is an anything for around with It is hard to give up the work right now it I?ve done another combine motor and I got a c it is hard to give up the work right now it I?ve done another combined motor and I got a couple clutch is the president another hundred overhaul but I got young people that want to help so I let them help to because I want to learn stuff is the dealer we got the kids are all young and if it not on the computer they don?t know how to work on it they don?t even know how to turn up a gas engine and they get $125 an hour I guess I?m too cheap always charge 50 so but I hope you come out all right I?ve seen you on this form

Wow what an ordeal. I don?t blame you for walking out. I?m sure it gave you some level of satisfaction to do so. I would get my azz to a reputable cardiologist who is affiliated with a top notch cardiologist ASAP. This is nothing to fool around with you. It can definitely kill you. Good luck and please stay with us.

I live just north of Buffalo NY, they have great cardiac surgeons and hospitals, what you described would NEVER happen in Buffalo.

Not sure if you can make the trip, but could be worth it.

My father had quadruple bypass 15 years ago, still going strong at 87 years old.

Hospitals suck money out of insurance (including Medicare) by keeping patients in a bed longer when they think they can get away with it. Three days is a different pay scale for them (admittance rather than visit) nasty. Jim
